Enjoy an up close view the American and Bridal Veil Falls when visiting Luna Island which is a 130 foot wide area located between the American and Bridal Veil Falls. Luna Island received its name back in the years before industry and pollution, on a clear night with a full moon; a moon-induced rainbow could be seen. Here you will have the opportunity to take wonderful pictures of he awe-inspiring view of the Falls. Directly below Luna Island is where the wooden staircase for the Cave of the Winds attraction is located. Three historic bridges link Goat Island and Three Sister Island where you will have a unique view of the upper rapids. Three Sisters Island received its name because General Whitney had three daughters and he wanted them to each build a home on the islands, therefore living next to each other; this process never materialized but the name remained, come and visit for the closest contact with the upper rapids.

Stoll through Goat Island, this beautiful Island where you can view the 18 gate bridge structure that controls and evens the flow of water over the Falls. You may view the part of the rapids called “the point of no return” where the depth of the water decreases and he water picks up speed. Here you may look across and view Canada. Goat Island received its name in 1778 when a farmer brought his herd of goats to the island to escape being attacked by wolves in the mainland. That winter all but one billy-goat died due to the bitter cold, from that time on the Island was named after the one surviving goat. Make sure you visit Whirlpool State Park which has one of the world’s most unusual Whirlpools. This is because the whirlpool changes direction twice a day, the water rushes through the narrowing gorge walls with such force that it shoots across to the opposite side and then follows the shoreline in a Counter clockwise motion- do not miss this unique phenomenon. This State Park features 109 acres for hiking, bike trails, fishing and picnics make sure you stay enjoy the beauty of this park.

Feel the thunder of the mighty Horseshoe Falls where 90% volume of water flow takes place at Terrapin Point which is located in the New York State Park. Here you have the opportunity to get breathtaking pictures of the Horseshoe Falls. If you are lucky on a perfect day you will see a magnificent rainbow.
